Thank You!

Without your support, we can not help individuals that rely on their service dog partner to participate in many “routine” daily activities. Currently, the cost of a fully trained service dog ranges from $15,000.00 to $90,000.00, this is not a typo. Many people with disabilities are dependent on limited income from assistance programs.

  • Owner/handler training is a less expensive way to obtain a service dog that affords them the opportunity to participate in an active lifestyle. These individuals face many obstacles in attempting to select and train a partner.
    • Through your generosity, we have relationships with shelters and rescues to evaluate candidates within their organizations.
    • We are constantly evaluating breeding programs for our “Breeder of Excellence” standing.
    • Scholarships make training assistance more affordable.
    • Sponsorships help provide much-needed equipment.
  • The individual is limited by the boundaries of their disability. The very reason they need a service partner.
    • Funding for one of our key programs is to identify local resources to assist with training and other accommodations.
    • We seek out companies that manufacture and sell equipment and training supplies.
  • Selecting a puppy or young adult (prospect) is NOT as simple as picking a favorite breed. Even if the selected breed has potential, temperament is the key to developing a prospect.
    • Genetics is a key component in evaluating a puppy or young adult.
    • Correct temperament testing also can indicate behaviors that are not suited to service dog work.
  • The selected prospect must acquire all of the basic and intermediate behaviors and socialization that form the basis for advanced training. Sadly, about 1 in 10 prospects complete this training.
    • It is heartbreaking when a prospect or Service Dog in Training (SDiT) “washes out”. Many hours and resources have been spent on training that did succeed. When carefully selected breeding programs with a strong “puppy culture” program are utilized, the chance for success is increased.
    • Funding supports the costs of our Puppy Raiser and Foster Family programs. These dedicated individuals train and socialize both the intake and outplacement of pups until they are rehomed.
  • Training a service dog is VERY labor intensive. Private training is often $100.00 per hour, and board-and-train weekly and monthly programs are in the thousands of dollars.
    • Scholarships assist service dog teams with the cost of training. Our affiliated partners offer their services at a discount so more teams can receive training assistance.
  • Public Access Training is extremely important. It is very difficult for owner/handler teams to train within environments that are not pet-friendly.
    • We advocate for teams that are discriminated against.

We can not provide services and resources without your generosity! Thank you for allowing us to serve owner/handler service dogs!! You are PAWsome!!!
